Pricing a man and van job by guesswork is how customers get burned. Every job is genuinely different – a ground-floor terraced house with the van right outside is a completely different proposition to a fourth-floor flat with one-hour loading bays. How we work out the price
Whatever the job, the price is built from the same straightforward factors:
- How much there is. Volume of items, number of rooms, size of the load.
- Access at both ends. Where the van can park, how far it is to the door, flights of stairs, lifts, narrow doorways.
- Distance. Local jobs are quickest and cheapest. Longer trips are priced on distance and time.
- How much help we need. Some jobs are one-man-and-the-van. Others need an extra porter or two.
- Anything special. Heavy items, dismantling, packing, awkward access, valuable items needing extra care.
What we quote on
- Removals – fixed-price for the whole job, not by the hour.
- Single-item pickups & drops – fixed-price, flexible time slots save money.
- House clearance – priced after a site visit or from photos. Saleable items can offset against the price.
- Waste clearance – priced by volume (fraction of a van load). Almost always cheaper than a skip.
- Scrap metal – large loads collected free.
- Scrap cars – collected free with proper paperwork.
- Long-distance moves – priced on distance, time and overnight if needed.
- Contract work – ongoing commercial jobs priced separately, ring us to discuss.

Our promise on price
The quote we give you on the phone is the quote you pay. We don’t do “approximately”, we don’t bolt on extras at the end of the job, and we don’t hold your belongings to ransom for last-minute charges. If something genuinely changes on the day – usually because the job is bigger than described, or access is different to what we agreed – we talk to you about it before doing extra work, not after.
