Helping a parent or relative move into residential care is one of the most difficult jobs a family ever takes on. We’ve been doing this for over twenty years across North Somerset, working with families, care home managers and out-of-area relatives to handle the practical bit gently while you focus on the emotional bit.
The whole job, in one go
Most families don’t want to deal with three different companies. We handle the lot:
- Personal items delivered to the care home. The few favourite pieces of furniture, photographs and clothing that go with them on day one.
- Family keepsakes delivered. Anything you or other family members want to keep, delivered anywhere in the UK.
- Valuations. For higher-value furniture, jewellery, ornaments, watches, paintings – we know the right local auction houses and dealers.
- Clearance. Everything else cleared, with proper waste-carrier paperwork.
- Storage. If you need time to decide, we can store things short- or long-term.
- Final clean. From a quick spruce-up to a full deep-clean ready for sale or rental.
Working with care workers
If you’d like a qualified care worker on hand at the old property – to support your relative on the day, help them say goodbye to the home, and travel with them – we can arrange that through a local care agency we’ve worked with for years. They know what they’re doing and they’re kind people.
How we prepare
We always meet beforehand with the family member or representative organising the move. We’ll walk through what’s going where, what gets kept, what gets sold, and what gets cleared. If you can’t be there in person we can do it by phone or video call. We then work to whatever schedule suits the care home and your relative – quietly, without rushing.
Working with care home managers
Local care home managers regularly recommend us to families because we make their lives easier too. We deliver at the time you ask, we don’t clutter up the entrance, and we treat the resident with the same respect the carers do.
