White goods are a pain to get rid of. The council often charges for collection, charities won’t take them once they’re a few years old, and scrap yards usually won’t take fridges or freezers because of the gas. We sort it for you.

What we collect

  • Fridges and freezers (chest, upright, American-style, integrated)
  • Washing machines, washer-dryers, tumble dryers
  • Dishwashers
  • Cookers (electric, gas, range cookers, single ovens, hobs)
  • Microwaves, extractor hoods, smaller kitchen appliances
  • Boilers and immersion heaters (removed by your plumber, we take them away)
  • Old TVs, computers, monitors

The fridge / freezer thing

Fridges and freezers contain refrigerant gas (and older units may contain CFCs) which has to be removed under controlled conditions before the unit is broken up for recycling. That means they can’t just go to a normal scrap metal yard, and the proper disposal route involves a small handling charge.

We’ll always be upfront about this. Most other appliances (washers, dryers, cookers) carry no handling charge if there’s a reasonable amount of metal involved, because the scrap value covers our time.

How disposal works

  1. We collect from your kitchen / utility / garage. You don’t need to drag it outside.
  2. The unit goes to a licensed WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) processor.
  3. Refrigerants are extracted safely. Metal, plastic, glass and circuit boards are separated for recycling.
  4. You get a receipt for the work.

Pricing

Most non-gas appliances are cheap to clear, sometimes free if combined with another job. Gas-containing units (fridges, freezers, air-con) carry a small handling charge to cover the licensed disposal cost. Ring us with what you’ve got and we’ll give you the figure straight.
