House clearance is rarely just about moving stuff. It’s usually attached to a difficult life moment – a bereavement, a downsize, a long-term tenant leaving, a property sale. We’ve been doing this in North Somerset for over twenty years and we know how to do it properly: quickly when you need it quick, gently when it needs to be gentle, and always with the right paperwork.
Types of clearance we handle
- Probate & bereavement clearance. Discreet, respectful, often working with solicitors and family who live elsewhere.
- End-of-tenancy clearance. Tenant left a mess? We clear it and can arrange a clean before the next let.
- Downsizing clearance. Moving to something smaller? We’ll deliver what you’re keeping and clear the rest.
- Hoarder property clearance. Non-judgemental, methodical, and we’ll keep anything you ask us to keep.
- Garage, shed and loft clearance. Often the worst bit of any house clearance, and exactly the bit we don’t mind.
- Landlord and letting agent clearances. Repeat work for several local agents in Weston-super-Mare and surrounding towns.
How a typical clearance works
- Site visit or photos. We’ll come and look round, or you can send pictures and a quick description by text.
- Fixed quote. Based on volume, access and what’s in there. Items we can resell may reduce the price.
- Clearance day. The team arrives, we walk through it with you (or your representative), then we get on with it.
- Documents and keepsakes. If you want letters, photos or paperwork put aside, we’ll set them apart for you.
- Saleable items. Furniture, jewellery, ornaments worth selling? We can arrange a valuation and take them to the right auction house.
- Waste disposal. Everything else is taken away as a registered waste carrier, recycling as much as possible.
- Optional clean. Quick spruce-up to full deep-clean including carpets, ready for resale or re-let.
Who we work with
House clearance work for us regularly comes from:
- Solicitors handling probate
- Estate agents preparing properties for sale
- Letting agents and landlords between tenancies
- Local authorities
- Out-of-country owners selling a UK property remotely
- Care home managers and family members organising a parent’s move
What we do with the contents
We’re Environment Agency registered as a waste carrier. That means everything we take goes to a licensed waste transfer station, not a layby. We recycle and re-home as much as we possibly can:
- Reusable furniture goes to charities and re-use schemes
- Working electricals go through proper WEEE channels
- Scrap metal goes to a recycling yard
- General waste is sorted and taken to a licensed transfer site
You should always ask any house clearance firm for their waste carrier registration number before letting them take your stuff. If the rubbish ends up fly-tipped, the fine traces back to whoever’s house it came from – not whoever dumped it.
Extra services we can fold in
Through long-standing local partners we can also organise:
- Quick clean / deep clean
- Carpet cleaning
- Landscaping & garden tidy-up
- Painting & decorating
- General handyman repairs
